your

Try the original keyboard on a different computer. If it doesn’t
work
properly, the keyboard is at fault and needs to be replaced.
Using the keyboard:
Keyboards are not always identical, but most keyboards include the basic
keys
in roughly the same positions.
ENTER - One of the most important keys in the keyboard is the [enter)
key.
The computer system
receives the key strokes and displays on the screen and
stores, but not acted
upon, until you press ( enter]
You type DOS commands and instructions and enter data using your keyboard
as
if it were a typewriter. When you are ready to send a line to the
computer,
press the [enter j key.
While data is received by the computer’s screen as you press each key,
no
data, instructions, or system
command is transmitted to the computer for
execution until you press
Enter
BACKSPACE =you can make changes to an entry, before pressing ENTER, by
using
[backspace] key. Each time you press [backspace) the c6mputer deletes
one
character to the left of your cursor
point, and moves the cursor one position to
the left.
CAPS LOCK ]
The Caps lock key is on the left hand side of the enhanced 101 -key
keyboard.
It is a toggle key. If you do not press the caps lock, lowercase
letters are
transmitted when alphabetical keys are pressed. If you press the
caps lock once,
each letter is transmitted as uppercase letter. If you press
it again, you will
get lowercase letters. A light usually appears on the
keyboard if you have
toggled Caps lock on. It affects only the letters.
SHIFT - To enter data or instructions in the uppercase, or in the
lowercase,
use the [shift) key to control the case. There are two identical
shift keys on
the keyboard, one on the lower right side of the central
keyboard and one on the
lower left. The shift keys make all the special
characters above the numbers on
the keyboard. The shift key is not a toggle
key. It must be held down or pressed
for each special character or for
uppercase letter desired.
Cursor Key
These keys are used for positioning the cursor at a desired point on
the
screen. These either shares the numeric keypad with numbers or on a
separate
dedicated group of keys.
If there are cursor control characters on your numeric keypad, you can
access
them when Numlock is off. When the numlock’s light is on, the keypad
keys
generate numbers rather than the cursor control signals.
The numeric keypad is located at the right side of the keyboard. It
allows
you to enter numbers with your right hand when the Numlock key is
pressed. A
light appears on the keyboard if you toggle the key.
PAGE DOWN key on the numeric keypad scrolls or moves one page (screen)
down
in a program or file.
PAGE UP Scrolls one page up in a program or file
Function keys appear above the main keyboard. They are typically
numbered.
These keys have specific meanings for each software
product that you run.
